Questions parents ask

What times do you need to swim at a top 25 D1 program?
In the 100 free, the middle half of the women who joined a top 25 Division I program in fall 2026 swam 50.23–52.37 in their last club season (median 51.15), and the men 44.26–46.79 (median 45.20). Every event is in the table on the Top 25 D1 page.
What times do you need to swim D1?

What times do you need to swim D2?
In the 100 free, the middle half of the women who joined a Division II program in fall 2026 swam 54.56–58.01 in their last club season (median 56.23), and the men 47.61–51.46 (median 48.93). Every event is in the table on the D2 page.
How fast should a 14-year-old be to swim D1?
Take the D1 median as a senior and find the 14-year-old time with the same national rank. In the 100 free that's 56.43 for girls (53.29 as a senior) and 51.26 for boys (46.93). It's a track, not a prediction: plenty of fast 14-year-olds get passed, and plenty of late starters catch up.
Where do these numbers come from?
From every fall 2026 college roster we could read, we took the U.S. freshmen and found each one's club swimming record. Each freshman counts with their best short course yards time in each event from their senior season (Sept 1 to Aug 31), from official meet results. High school meets aren't included.
Is this what coaches require?
No. It's what the freshmen who made each team actually swam, not a published standard. Coaches weigh a lot more than one time, and the middle half leaves a quarter of each class slower than its slow edge.
